Morley Townsite

  • Within 4 miles of the Santa Fe Trail Ranch entrance sits the 50 acre townsite/ghostown of Morley, CO originally named Cima or "Summit" in Spanish.
  • First established around 1906 by CF&I was the site of the Morley coal mine and was in existence until the 1950's.
  • Today only the front of the St Aloysius Catholic Church remains standing with old foundations of company houses, company store, schoolhouse and original mine entrance below. The trains still run just to the east of the land, they're just not steampowered anymore.
  • Overhead power line and year round pirvate access road run lengthwise through the middle of the property and a seasonal creek lined with Cottonwoods runs through the width on the north end. Gret views of the Raton Mesa.
